Tempe Intl. Triathlon

Had a great weekend as 7 Kingman locals headed to Tempe to compete in the International triathlon. Among the top winners was Cody Thompson who took 1st in his age group. Kim had a successful race as she was able to run the whole way!! Chris Bowers improved upon his time from last year, nearly 15 minutes. Shawn Tausz even made it to the race, she did great now we just have to get her to do more! Zack Tomlin crawled out of bed and out from a rock to participate in his first competitive swim in over a year! This was his first open water swim, I watched from the shore as I could see Zack in 3rd place among the other relays. Tim McDonnell got in some short course speed as he prepares for his longer half Ironman in July. Christina Kraus even decided to jump in and enjoy the event. I felt great and had a good race, I was able to make up some time on the run and catch Tim Bolen who passed me on the bike. I had a negative split on the run as I ran 21:15 for the first 3 miles and finished with a 41:06 10K.
Please see the attached links for pictures and times from the event. http://www.tucsonracing.com/results/TATres07.htm

Weekend Update!!

What a great weekend it was in Kingman! Although the weather was not as warm as it should have been it was a great weekend for training and racing!
Saturday started with a large group ride a bicycle outfitters, 11 riders showed up to take to the roads. There were 3 different groups that headed out, one group went to Aztec loop. Cody and I rode to Oatman for a 63 mile ride, and the other group rode around town. All reports that I have heard indicated that everyone had a great ride!
On Sunday we had our first group ride with the up and coming Kingman talent! We met Jacob, Patrick, Tristan at the bike shop for an hour ride. Everyone was dressed to impress with Bicycle Outfitters jerseys! (there are more photos under the Picasa Link from the ride)
Everyone had stellar performances, and they all refused to surrender to El Travadore hill, Including Tristan who rode a tank up the hill!!! He is a machine, he rode a bike that weights nearly as much as he does. Anyone know where the kid can get a junior rode bike??? He deserves one after that! We are looking at having these younger riders join us about once a month or perhaps even more if we get more to join!
There was also some racing action this weekend as Chris Bowers AKA "Big Boy" took to the shores and streets of Mexico for the Rocky Point Triathlon. Below are the links to the results and a article that was published about the race. I will post the pictures once they are available so we can all see Big Boy bringing sexy back!!

Just a reminder we are still doing spin class at Bicycle Outfitters on Tuesdays at 6, so please join us!!

Weekend Training!!

Had a great weekend of training and it was nice to be at home and relax! On Saturday I rode to Oatman and had a great ride! After talking with Tim Bolen about some of my nutrition and drinking habits it became apparent that I do not drink enough on the bike. I drank 9 water bottles on the ride! Normally I would have drank 3 or 4, what a huge difference!
There was also a group, (Kim, Ran, Vern, Ernie and Dwayne) that rode the Aztec loop. Ernie now knows how to fix a flat and change a tube thanks to Kim! They all had a good ride! Vern is getting a HRM so everyone better watch out for him in a couple of weeks!
Had a great run on Sunday ran for a hour at a good pace and pushed it for the last 3 miles, my last split was 5:54, now if I could just get my calfs to stop killing me the next day that would be great! Kim ran about 6 miles and she is still battling issues with her legs bothering her.
Ryan has started to put together his new ride (Trek Madone 5.2) and looks forward to making the maiden voyage in the near future! He better hurry or Shawn will be riding it for him!!
Cody will be in town this weekend and will be meeting us at 7am Saturday at Bicycle outfitters!
SEE YOU THERE!
